The design concept is two folds. To create a serious piece inspired by astronautics that is outside of the novelty. Secondly, to marry traditional and modern techniques that seamlessly merges concept and design whilst paying homage to the industry’s past, present and future.

Influenced by astronautics, the form of the star was chosen to be the centerpiece of the ring. This is inspired by the unyielding spirit of humanity for navigating the unknown by looking to the stars. The magnus opus is the intergrated claws in the design for the center stone and the reverse setting of the adjacent stones, serving stylistic purpose as much as functional.

The form of the triple ring was chosen for two reasons. First for functionality; to create balance and support the head. Second for aesthetics; where the shape references the art nouveau and art deco style in early scifi.
